Kurt's Tasting Note #17 | West Berkshire Brewery | Good Old Boy

Fruity esters from the classic English ale yeast blend perfectly with the earthy aromas from the Kentish hops within.  Flavor bursts with malt - medium crystal malt on a Marris Otter base - with the firm hop bitterness keeping the sweetness in check.  A touch of buttery goodness (again, a signature of the yeast) provides a richness and smoothness to the brew, while the grainy astringency dries the palate in the end, leading to a crisp, clean finish.  To fit all of this character into a 4% beer is truly the English brewer’s art.  A first rate bitter, and a very good old boy indeed
