England Top to Bottom Tour

Kurt and Stuart will lead you on an unforgettable craft beer and real ale journey, starting in the historic county of Yorkshire, centre of the craft brewing revolution in the north and home to the fantastic medieval city of York and ending in the historic hop fields of Kent.  On the way we will be drinking craft beer and real ale with some of the UK's best and most innovative brewers, visiting Burton-on-Trent, seeing the home of William Shakespeare, traveling through the beautiful Cotswolds, experiencing London in all its glory and drinking beer in Britain's oldest brewery.  

Itinerary:

Day 1:  This is the arrival day in York.  A chance to check into the hotel, meet fellow guest and enjoy a walking tour of this historic city.  York is home to 365 pubs so there will be a chance to explore some of these both before dinner at the welcome drinks and after at Brew Yorkan excellent craft brewery and tap room.

Day 2:  Head out to a Malton for breakfast and a visit to two up and coming breweries, Brass Castle and Bad Seed Brewery.  Following this, we head over to Leeds (a hotbed of craft brewing in the UK) for a beer pairing luncheon at the impressive Northern Monk Brewery. Prior to checking in to our hotel, we will visit our friends at Nomadic for a sample of their latest offerings.  After dinner we will be exploring Leeds' spectacular night time craft scene.

Day 3:  After a leisurely breakfast we will head to Huddersfield, another Yorkshire town leading the way for the UK craft beer revolution.  The highlight of the day will be a visit to Magic Rock Brewery with a tour and tasting extravaganza led by their Head Brewer! The evening will be spent back out in the Leeds craft beer scene. 

Day 4:  A morning visit to the brewing museum of Burton-on-Trent, followed by an afternoon in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the home of both William Shakespeare and some great pubs; there will be time to visit both. Dinner will be spent in the company of Purity Brewing, where you will get the opportunity to try the traditional and the craft sitting side by side.  The hotel will be near Stratford-Upon-Avon.

 

Day 5:  Step back in time during our day in the Cotswolds.  First stop will be a visit to the historic Hook Norton Brewery (an original gravity fed brewery) followed by lunch and a chance to visit Blenheim Palace.   In the afternoon we will check in to a local hotel and then visit West Berkshire Brewery's fantastic new brewery and tap room, where you will again get the chance to try the old and the new side-by-side whilst enjoying dinner.  

 

Day 6:  An early start drive to London with a morning check in to the hotel.  The afternoon is a free day of sightseeing with an optional craft beer pub crawl in the evening.

 

Day 7:  A full day of traditional and craft beer touring, starting at Fullers Brewery (home to the fabulous London Pride) followed by one of the craft giants of the UK revolution, Beavertown.  Dinner and the evening will be on your own.

Day 8:  Our journey continues with visit to a brewery making waves on the London scene...Hop Stuff Brewery. We will then head to Kent, the legendary home of English hops, followed by a trip back in time with lunch in Faversham and a visit to the oldest brewery in Britain, the Shepherd Neame Brewery.  Following the tour we will check in to our hotel near Dover, where dinner will be provided.

Day 9:  Our last full day and a chance to explore the White Cliffs of Dover.  The afternoon and evening will be spent in the company of the Westerham Brewery sampling some of Kent's best craft beer and real ale.

 

Day 10:    Following a sumptuous breakfast we will head back to London and the end of our England Top to Bottom Tour.

What's not included:

  • Travel arrangements to York or return home at the end of the Tour (we can provide support for train transportation from London to York)

  • Additional lunches and dinners not included in the itinerary

  • Any activities you wish to book during your free time

  • Any additional beer purchased on your own

Tour Cost:

This tour cost $3,499* per person.  You can reserve a place on this tour with a $400 per person deposit.  Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

*This number is based on double occupancy.  For an additional cost of $499, we can provide a single occupancy room. 

If you are a single traveller and wish to avoid the single occupancy supplement we can work with you to try to pair you with another guest on the trip.
